Drone Based Driver Assistance System

We developed an unmanned aerial vehicle that can be placed on top of a car and can perform autonomous tasks such as autonomous take off, automatic live streaming and recording of images & videos via a GUI module placed inside the car, etc. The developed UAV is also capable of performing waypoint navigation through a user fed map. After completion of a task, the UAV can easily land on top of the car by using a specially designed vision based autonomous landing algorithm.

Monitoring of Buried Oil and Gas Pipelines using UAV-AGV set up

The concept of multi-agent coordination control has been utilized in this project. The unmanned aerial vehicle carries a camera, a GPS module and a specially designed ORT sensor. On similar lines, the AGV carries a high-resolution camera, a GPS module, a MMM sensor and gas leak detection sensor. Both these vehicles receive the GPS location of the starting point of each pipe line. Then on, each of these two vehicles utilize vision and/or GPS module to track the mid-point axis of pipelines simultaneously gathering data pertaining to the health of the pipelines. In case of defect, the GPS location of the defect spot is relayed back to the ground station.

Warehouse automation

We have developed a vision assisted advanced robotic manipulator system that can perform sorting of various types of objects in an efficient manner. The system is trained using different AI based algorithms and is made capable to perform various sorting tasks such as gripping the object, placing the objects at the desired spot, etc. The overall system is designed in ROS framework with state-of-the-art robot motion planning algorithms along with deep learning based vision algorithms.


Vision enabled UAV system for search & rescue operations

An unmanned aerial vehicle is being designed to perform autonomous take off from a moving vehicle, navigate using way point algorithm and provide live streaming on a mobile application. The drone can enter in buildings through windows and doors and is equipped with IR cameras to detect objects in dark. This is also used to detect temperature differences and perform corrective actions such as transmitting a fire alarm command to the mobile app and/or turn on the nearest sprinkler. The drone also features advanced object recognition algorithms and face recognition algorithms that can aid in finding lost objects/survivors in debris.


AI & IoT course modules

Part 1 - introduction to AI & IoT
The module covers fundamental topics in Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence including full chapters on Arduino boards, Raspberry Pi, different types of sensors and their interfacing with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The module also covers introduction to neural network algorithms such as Back Propagation algorithm, Radial Basis Function Network, etc.

Part 2 - Advanced AI & IoT
The module covers advanced topics in Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence including full chapters on ESP interfacing with Arduino, Raspberry Pi. Different types of sensors are dealt with and their interfacing with Arduino and Raspberry Pi via Blynk app will be explained in detail. The module also covers details of neural network algorithms such as Back Propagation through time, Recurrent networks and KSOM based system identification.

Part 3 - Intelligent Robotics
The module covers introductory and advanced topics in designing, modelling and building smart robotic systems such as mobile robots, robot manipulators, UAVs, etc. in ROS framework. The module further deals with learning the validation techniques for developed robots in simulated Gazebo environment as well as in real world scenario. The course also covers integration of different novel visualization, planning and control schemes in ROS framework.

Part 4 - Intelligent Systems & Control
The course module deals with the learning and development of neural network based intelligent AI schemes for smart systems including text processing modules, robotic systems and IoT based products. Basic and hands-on simulations with advanced AI algorithms including deep learning based algorithms, Back Propagation algorithm, Radial Basis Function Network, Fuzzy Logic, Recurrent Neural Networks, are covered. The next part of the module covers the integration and testing of some of these algorithms in real physical products under operating conditions.
